No lUCK NEEDED

What a wild weekend for NIU! Our Huskies pulled off one of the biggest upsets in college football, taking down *No. 5 Notre Dame* 16-14 on their own turf! This wasn't just any win; it was a moment that will go down in Huskie history. It’s a huge deal for our community, and the energy around DeKalb is electric.

Coach Thomas Hammock—an NIU guy through and through—has done an incredible job building this team. Hammock played running back for the Huskies back in the day (1999-2002) and always dreamed of returning as head coach. Well, he’s making those dreams come true, and not just for him—for all of us. After the win, Hammock’s postgame speech hit deep. He talked about how they didn’t need luck, just hard work and belief in each other. And wow, did they deliver.

Hammock also brought the heat in his interview on *Pardon My Take*. He was humble but hyped, giving us an inside look at what this win means for the program. And get this—he even reached out to Notre Dame’s coach, Marcus Freeman, after the game to offer some help. That’s next-level sportsmanship and shows what kind of leader Hammock really is. Interview starts at 1:40.00 into the program.

With this massive win behind us, the next big game to watch is NIU’s Homecoming on October 19 against Toledo. It’s the perfect time to come out and show your Huskie pride! Grab your tickets, pack Huskie Stadium, and be part of this incredible journey. Don’t forget to follow both Local Exposure and NIU Athletics on social media to stay updated on all the excitement. Let’s make this season one to remember, Huskie Nation!
